The story of a room

This room all started with me purchasing a serger for my little dress business. Soon after I made this purchase, I realized that I did not have enough room on my current desk for the serger to fit. So began the hunt for a sewing desk!
I am cheap! Anyone who knows me, knows this. We started looking and I was shocked to find that even a cheap sewing table is over $100.00! This was not going to work for me. So the hunt on ksl began.
I found this table that I thought would work but the price was still a little steep for me $50.00. I decided I would wait a week or so and watch it. Sure enough with in a week the couple had dropped it to $40.00! So my cute husband got on the phone and offered them $30.00 and they accepted!!! I was so excited!!!! I had big plans!!!
Here it is ...(don't pay any attention to my messy play room)
Ugly Right?!?!
Nothing a little primer and paint can't fix!!!
Here it is after ...

So much prettier!!!!

Well a cute Desk like this deserves a cute chair right?!?!
So off to the D.I. I went.
and found this....
(Remember I have big plans)

So a little primer

and paint

and some cute fabric later
I created this cute thing...

Well one day while I was down working on dresses, I began to imagine what my room would be like if I could finish it. So I did what any girl would do ... I drew up some plans! ( I forgot to take a picture) Later that day Matt came home from work and I showed him my plans. He thought they were awesome and said "lets do it!" The next week work began!
Here are the "before any work started" pictures

(I look at these pictures now and can't believe I lived like this)

wash area
storage area
unfinished ceiling

Matt added lots of new can lighting

I was so excited the day the framer showed up!!!
I now have closets to hide my storage!

My new cute door! Love it!!!

The new washroom/closet
My cute hutch, my brother built for me
(the hutch is also part of my big plans)

I thought I was excited when the framer came ... that was nothing after the sheet rockers came!
My vision for this room was starting to take shape.

Washroom/closet

Matt had a great idea (very rare) but this time awesome idea! To take the empty space behind the furnace and do a decorative closet with an arch for fabric storage! Brilliant idea !!!
(Just don't tell him that!)

I wanted this room to be "girly"
Nothing says girly more than a fancy chandelier!
next came the flooring ...

I chose a dark laminate flooring and can I just tell you how much I LOVE the look!!!

My cute little helper!!!

different views of the room

Next all the trim work...
I love the detail and rich look that trim work can give a room.
Thanks to my Brother Tyler I got exactly what I wanted!!!

Washroom/closet

decorative closet

bead board, large baseboards and crown molding
LOVE IT !!!
Did I say how much I love it!

It took a few days to paint all the trim and closets!

Painting White trim

Looking Good!!!

Next my favorite part ... Color!
I decided early on that I wanted a bright fun color for my room.
I spend a lot of time down here and I wanted it to be a room I would never want to leave!
So I chose...

a few last pictures before color

"Gecko Green"

Matt painting the first wall!
I am not going to lie I was freaking out
It was really bright!
but I had a vision!

I drive Matt nuts when we do projects because I have to decorate as we go.
You know... make sure everything looks good!
So in the middle of painting I had to bring in my new chair to make sure it looked good!
Looks awesome right!?!?

Another view

and another

and the finished project...

I still have a few finishing touches to do but over all I LOVE it!
I want to get my girls picture in one of my outfits to put on the wall above the desk!
To remind me every day why I am doing what I do!!!

Most everything in this room as far a decorations are second hand.
I love spray paint it works miracles!!!

I decided not to put doors on the Washroom closet.
So I decorated the shelf to make it look more like part of the room

and that hutch my brother built ... look at it now!!!

Cute storage for all my cute fabric ... I haven't finished these shelves yet.

and that is the story of my cute craft room.
I love it so much!
It makes me so happy!
We have been all over with Izzy playing soccer. First we headed down south to St. George. Her team played awesome! They walked away Champions! Izzy scored in every game, she even scored the 1 and only goal in the final game!!!

Next we were off to Boise, Idaho!

We decided that due to the price of gas we would fly. Airfare was cheap so we went ahead and booked our flights. Besides who wants to drive 5 hrs when you can get there in 45 minutes. Boy do I wish that was the case...
Matt is kind of a freak to travel with so we had to get to the airport an hour before we should have. Just in case! Well we were 1 hour early, even after checking bags and going through security! No problem we will just sit and wait. Besides I had missed the Royal Wedding and they were running it on CNN, so I was able to sit and watch. Well we waited and waited and then the news... our plane was delayed 2hrs!!! What!!! Sitting in the airport with Gracie is such a treat to begin with but sitting there with her for 3 hrs!!! I was not happy!!!! After a long wait we finally made it!! In the end probably only saving us about 1 hour!
It was so cold!
We would sit in the car between games just to stay warm!!!
Here are a few picture of me and the girls...
Izzy played so hard she got blisters from her new cleats!!!
#1 rule ... Don't buy new cleats before a tournament!

Gracie with her princess and the Frog magnets that she got while waiting in the airport! Probably the only reason I am still sane!

Her team did awesome!!!
They won every game!
They ended up playing a Utah team in the finals.

The teams doing a championship walk onto the field for the final

Izzy ready to kick off

They ended up winning this game 2-1!!!

Celebration Time!!!

Matt bought a lottery ticket before we left!
He thought this was his chance for millions!
We would have won $2.00!!! Just our luck!

Next up 3v3

This year Izzy and a few of her members of her team, did their first 3v3 tournament! This tournament is one of my favorites! Matt and Mason coached the team. They didn't have a great turn out for the tournament this year, so they had to combine different age groups to make sure each team was able to play. Izzy's team was put in an age group from u9-u12. We thought we were going to get creamed!!! These Girls played so hard! In the end they made it to the finals after a long hard day of game after game. They ended up playing a u11 Sparta team in the final. They lost ... but the girls were so excited to have come from behind to 2nd place!!!
After the game the girls were so exhausted. The other team was so cute and included our girls in their huddle. They knew how hard our girls had worked to get to the finals.

Both Sparta teams
Go Sparta!
